Purpose
The Corporate Accounting Acquisitions Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with post-close accounting of acquisitions, preparing US GAAP footnotes for the consolidated audited financials and other month-end close duties. Overseeing and preparing the loading of trial balances into the corporate GL system, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and acting as a point of contact for the branches. The role includes the supervision of four accountants who are responsible for the upload of trial balances and other related duties.
Key Responsibilities
Acquisition & General Accounting
- Oversee, prepare and validate financial statements submitted by 60+ self-managed entities, ensuring accurate and timely uploads into the corporate system.
- Work closely with management to ensure the monthly financial budgets of acquired entities are aligned and reported accurately.
- Serve as the primary liaison between corporate finance teams and self-managed entities, facilitating communication, providing support, and resolving financial issues.
- Review and monitor intercompany charges to determine appropriate billing and ensure accurate allocations.
- Monitor and reconcile the cash sweep and manual distribution processes between self-managed entities and corporate for accuracy and compliance.
- Perform and oversee reconciliations of balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, ensuring alignment between company and subsidiary ledgers.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audit footnotes in compliance with US GAAP and support external auditors with necessary documentation.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, which include variance analysis and financial reporting.
- Assist with integrating the companies to our ERP system
Requirements
Education / Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- 3-6 years of experience in accounting is required with at least 2 years in a senior accountant role
- Combination of public and industry experience is preferred
- CPA preferred
Skills / Other Requirements
- Microsoft Dynamics D365 core applications experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formula creation, macros, and data filtering/sorting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills with a customer-oriented mindset, particularly in liaising with acquired company representatives and their accounting staff.
- Effective problem-solving and concise execution of accounting solutions.
- Strong skills in written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of operational accounting, financial requirements, accounting requirements, and business management practices.
