About the job

Description

AppFolio is more than a company. We’re a community of dreamers, big thinkers, problem solvers, active listeners, and multipliers. At every opportunity, we set the pace while delivering innovation built to carry real estate into the future. One in which every experience feels effortless, yet meaningful. Where customers are empowered to take on any opportunity. We show up as one team, connected by our values to be a force for good. Because together, we have the power to create extraordinary outcomes for our customers, our communities, and ourselves.

The Data Migration Specialist II serves as a trusted guide and technical expert for customers navigating one of the most pivotal moments in their business — transitioning to AppFolio. By delivering a seamless, accurate, and timely data migration experience, you'll help customers unlock the full value of our platform from day one, laying the foundation for long-term success and advocacy.

Your impact

  • Own the full data migration journey for customers across customer segments — ensuring accurate, on-time data conversion while setting the tone for a confident, empowered AppFolio experience
  • Serve as the go-to AppFolio data expert, guiding customers through complex configurations, troubleshooting import variances, and translating intricate legacy data structures into optimized setups that align with their unique business goals
  • Champion a positive, growth-minded customer experience by communicating proactively, coaching customers on best practices, and fostering a sense of ownership so they feel capable and confident from the moment they go live
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Onboarding Managers and internal teams to drive project milestones and consult on best practices that strengthen the overall onboarding experience

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of property management accounting principles, including trust accounting, G/L management, A/P, A/R, and financial reporting
  • Exceptional customer relationship-building skills with the ability to establish trusted advisor relationships and find creative solutions to nuanced business challenges
  • Strong analytical capabilities with an obsession for detail and accuracy, backed by experience applying structured validation or QA processes to data migration, testing, or reconciliation workflows — you catch inconsistencies, reconcile variances, and don't let a project close until the data is right.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to set clear expectations, translate complex data concepts into digestible guidance, and maintain professionalism across all customer interactions
  • Highly organized with strong ability to multitask and follow through on competing deadlines without losing quality
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel; intermediate proficiency or above
  • Property management industry knowledge a plus
  • BA/BS degree required

Must have

  • Experience in a B2B SaaS implementation or customer onboarding projects in a customer-facing role
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, exercising good judgment and influencing decisions across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Comfort working across platforms such as Intercom, Salesforce and Zoom to manage customer interactions and deliver face-to-face service efficiently
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools (Gemini, CoPilot, Claude AI, or similar); comfort exploring new tools independently
  • A genuine customer-first mindset — you're energized by helping customers succeed and hold yourself accountable to both the outcome and the experience
  • High degree of flexibility and a growth mindset — you proactively seek out development opportunities and continuously raise your own bar
